Jessamyn Foster started her theatre career at the Kalamazoo Civic Youth Theatre at the age of 9 on the publicity crew for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She went on to do shows through high school both onstage and off. She was a company member at Actors and Playwrights Initiative and attended the Education for the Arts technical theatre program at the Comstock Community Auditorium. She attended Boston University to earn her BFA in Stage Management where she had the opportunity to work at the Huntington Theatre and the Boston Lyric Opera. After college, Jessamyn ran away and joined the Big Apple Circus as the Assistant to the Operations Manager. When she ran-away from the circus, she landed in Corpus Christi, TX, where she stage managed at the Harbor Playhouse. The next stop on her modern-gypsy trail was Norfolk, VA. She worked for the Virginia Opera in the Education Department as a Company Manager and stage managed for the Little Theatre of Norfolk and the Generic Theatre. The next move landed her in Yokosuka, Japan, where she helped to revive the Yokosuka International Players.
The next (and last for awhile) stop was San Diego, CA. Jessamyn’s local stage manager credits include Moxie Theatre’s Fade, The Diary of Anne Frank, Ironbound, The Kid Thing, Crumbs from the Table of Joy and The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence, Innermission Productions’ Gidion’s Knot, Southwestern College’s Bring it On! and The Arsonists, Leigh Scarrit Productions’ Brooklyn: The Musical, California Youth Conservatory’s Into the Woods, Billy Elliott, and The Wiz, and The Roustabouts’ Charge the Bear and No Way Back. She recently earned her MA in Arts Administration from the University of Kentucky. She is also the Production and Operations Manager for the San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory.
